Mental Health and Food

Mindy Lawrence

When you think of help for mental health, you usually think of counseling and medication. One thing not addressed as often is food. In other words, “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food,” according to Hippocrates.

Rather than a newfangled diet, nutrition for mental health means filling your body with good foods – vegetables, fruit,

The ten most helpful foods your mind and body are:
· Salmon
· Chicken
· Whole grains
· Avocados
· Spinach
· Yogurt
· Nuts
· Olive oil
· Tomatoes
· Dark chocolate
Eating some of these daily and ignoring things like burgers, ice cream, sodas, and chips will help your mind stay clear.
